1) A window is in the shape of a rectangle surrounded by a triangle like in the figure with given dimensions. Find the total area of window which allows light and fresh air in the house.

First find the area of rectangle and triangle and then add them , you will get the total area of the window

sunlight is a good source of heat and light energy. we are using solar panels for electricity production.

getting light through the window can save a lot of electrical energy. if we use daylight during days without using electrical energy, we will of course be able to save energy.

air

air is also a very important source of energy. windmills are a very familiar figure in rich countries.

without using fans we can use natural air for the required purpose.

of course we should save energy because only 1/5 part of the total energy on earth is renewable.

now,

area \: of \: the \: rectangle = (4 \times 3) = 12 \: sq.feet

again,

area \: of \: the \: triangle =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4}  \times {4}^{2}  = 4 \sqrt{3}

so,

total \: area = 12 + 4 \sqrt{3}  = 18.93
