Given:

(i) Aasha, Biren and Cemal share $640 in the ratio 8 : 15 : 9.

To find:

(i) Aasha receives $160.

(ii) The amount that Biren and Cemal receives.

(iii) The greatest number of books that Aasha can buy if she uses her $160 to buy some books where each book costs $15.25.

Solution:

The given ratio is 8:15:9

Let the common ratio be x.

So, total share = (8+15+9)x

= 32x

Aasha's share = \frac{8x * Total money to be shared}{32x}

= \frac{Total money}{4}

The total money is given as $640. So,

$Aasha's share =  \frac{640}{4} \\  $160

Biren will receive

$  = \frac{15x * Total money to be shared}{32x}\\= \frac{15*640}{32}\\ 300

Cemal will receive

$  = \frac{9x * Total money to be shared}{32x}\\= \frac{9*640}{32}\\ 180

Number of books bought by Aasha

= \frac{Total .money. she. has}{Price .of .one .book}\\= \frac{160}{15.25}\\ =10.49

≈ 10             [Number of books cant be fractional]

(a) Aasha receives $160.

(b) Biren and Cemal receives $300 and $180 respectively.

(c) She can buy 10 books.

Answer: 1/24

Step-by-step explanation:

3/8 - 1/3

Find the LCM which is 24 , 8x3 = 24 and 3x8 =24

then multiply the denominator by the following values , as well as the numinator

\frac{3X3}{8X3} - \frac{1X8}{3X8}

= \frac{9}{24}- \frac{8}{24}

= \frac{1}{24}

and 24 is your answer :)
