1. ABCD is a square which is 576 m in area. AE = 4 m.
O is the midpoint of AB. If a semicircle EFG with O as centre is cut off
to accommodate a circular pillar, then find the area of the carpet
required to cover the remaining area.

Area of square= side²

side²=576

side=24 cm

diameter of the circle= 24- 8=>16

Radius=8cm

Area of semicircle=1/2×πr²

=>1/2×22/7×16

=>25.14 ( approx)

Area of the leftover carpet= 576-25.14

=>550.86 cm²
