Given :  Cash Book of a trader shows a debit bank balance of Rs. 6400, While comparing it with Pa ss Book, it was found that a cheque of Rs. 7200 issued was recorded on the debit side of Cash Book.

To Find : The Pa ss Book balance at this point of time would be

Solution:

Cash Book of a trader shows a debit bank balance of Rs. 6400,

if there was no wrong entry then

Pa ss Book balance  = Rs. 6400,

While comparing it with Pa ss Book, it was found that a cheque of Rs. 7200 issued was recorded on the debit side of Cash Book.

7200  which was supposed to be credited actually debited

so for the correction  7200 which was debited need to be credited

and also 7200 which need to be credited has to be credited

Hence  pa ss book balance

= 6400 debit + 7200 credit + 7200 credit

= 8000 credit

Hence Pa ss Book balance = 8000 credit
