1.
An aeroplane flies round a square field PQRS of each
side 1000 km. Its speed along PQ is 400 km/h, along
QR 500 km/h, along Rs 600 km/h and along SP,
700 km/h. The average speed of the aeroplane over
the entire trip is
(a) 550 km/h
(b) 600 km/h
(c) 527 km/h
(d) 500 km/h

The average speed is given by the formula = total speed/total no of sides

They have given speed in each side of sq.

We will substitute the given values in the above formula

Therefore

\frac{400+500+600+700}{4}

\frac{2200}{4}=550.

Hence The average speed is 550 km/h

Answer:(a) 550 km/h

Explanation:

The most common formula for average speed is that distance traveled divided by time taken. The other formula if you have the initial and final speed add the two together and divide by 2

average speed = total speed divided by total no of sides

They given speed in each side of sq. Therefore 400+500+600+700÷4

2200÷4=550. The avg speed is (a) 550 km/h
