1. An electric pole 15 metres high, casts a
shadow of 10.5 metres. Find the height of a
tree which casts a shadow of 14 metres
under similar conditions.

height of electric pole = 15m

length of its shadow = 10.5m

now,

let the height of tree be x metres

also the length of tree given is 14 metres

here, similar conditions means about sun that is casting the shadow ( both tree and pole are casting shadow with equal angles formed by cone)

therefore,

15/10.5 = x/14( draw triangles and use similarity

criterion)

now solve by cross multiplication and find the value of x that will be the height of the tree.
