1.An object travels 20m towards east, turns and moves 15m towards north. Calculate the
distance travelled and the displacement.
2.A boy takes one complete round of a circular track of radius 21m while a girl walks along the diameter of the same track. Calculate the distance travelled and the displacement by the boy
and the girl.

Hello dear,
● (1) Case I -
Total distance travelled by object is
d = 20 + 15 = 35 m
Displacement of object is calculated by-
s = √(20^2 + 15^2)
s = 25 m
● (2) Case II -
Distance travelled by the boy -
d = 2πr = 2π × 21
d = 132 m
Displacement of the boy is zero as he returns to same point.
s = 0
Distance travelled by the girl-
d = 2r = 2 × 21
d = 42 m
Displacement of the girl is -
s = 2r = 2 × 21
s = 42 m
Hope it helps...
