Explanation:

1. Day and night are due to the Earth rotating on its axis, not its orbiting around the sun. The term 'one day' is determined by the time the Earth takes to rotate once on its axis and includes both day time and night time.

2. This spinning movement is called Earth's rotation. At the same time that the Earth spins on its axis, it also orbits, or revolves around the Sun. This movement is called revolution.

3. Earth revolves around the sun in 365 days, 5 hours, 59 minutes and 16 seconds. The time a planet takes to revolve around the sun is called a year.

4. It is situated in the northern hemisphere.

5. Earth is tilted by 23.5o from a position perpendicular to its orbital plane. Earth's tilt remains fixed as it orbits the sun.

As Earth orbits the sun, the north pole tilts toward the sun part of the year, and away from the sun part of the year.

The sun rays shine down perpendicularly at a different latitude each day because of this tilt and its orbit around the sun. Where the sun's rays shine down perpendicularly is where Earth becomes warmer.
