1. The three layers of the earth are crust , mantle and core.

2. A rock is any naturally occurring solid mass or aggregate of one or more minerals. Such aggregate constitute the basic unit of  which the solid earth is composed and typically form recognizable and  mappable  volumes.

3.The three types of rocks are : igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks and metamorphic rocks.

4. Extrusive rocks are formed on the surface of the earth from lava , which is magma that emerged from underground. Intrusive rocks are formed from magma that cools and solidifies within the crust of the planet.

5. Rock cycle is a process in which rocks are continuously transformed between the three types of rock .

The instrusive rocks are formed when the magma solidifies below the surface of the earth.

(6) The uses of rocks are:-

• The rocks provide parent material for the soils.

• The rocks contains a variety of minerals.

• A number of rocks are used as a building materials for the construction of houses, roads and dams.

(7) Metamorphic rocks are formed through the process of metamorphism. The term metamorphism means alteration or transformation.
