Answer:

.Slaves were considered as a 'necessity' in the southern states of America because the main occupation of the people in Southern states was agriculture. They had huge cotton and sugar plantations and slaves provided cheap labour.

.The Northern states were industrialised. They did not require slave labour in industries. Moreover, they considered the practice of slavery as inhuman. Thus, the Northern states wanted to abolish slavery.

.Uncle Tom's Cabin; or, Life Among the Lowly. is an anti-slavery novel by American author Harriet Beecher Stowe. Published in two volumes in 1852, the novel had a profound effect on attitudes toward African Americans and slavery in the U.S., and is said to have "helped lay the groundwork for the [American] Civil War."

.Lincoln declared war on the confederates on the issue of secession. According to Lincoln, no state had the right to secede from the Union. The southern states had seceded from the Union. Thus, Lincoln declared war on the confederate states to preserve the unity of America.

.Lincoln delivered one of the most famous speeches in United States history at the dedication of the Gettysburg National Cemetery on November 19, 1863. The victory of U.S. forces, which turned back a Confederate invasion, marked a turning point in the Civil War.
