Given

  • Length of rectangle is 10 cm more than twice of the breadth.
  • Perimeter = 540 cm

To find

  • Length and Breadth of rectangle
  • Area of rectangle

How to solve?

  • Firstly, we will let the breadth = x.

  • Then as mentioned in the question that the length of rectangle is 10 cm more than twice of the breadth. We will double the breadth and add 10 cm in it. It will be the length of the rectangle.

  • We have the perimeter of rectangle. By using the formula of perimeter we will find the length and breadth of the rectangle.

  • By using the measure of the length and breadth we will find the area if rectangle.

Formulae to be used

  • Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)
  • Area of rectangle = Length × breadth

Solution

Let the breadth be x and length be 10 + 2x.

Perimeter = 2(l + b)

⇒ 540 = 2(10 + 2x + x)

⇒ 540 = 2(10 + 3x)

⇒ 540 = 20 + 6x

⇒ 540 - 20 = 6x

⇒ 520 = 6x

⇒ 520/6 = x

⇒ Dividing by 2.

⇒ 260/3 = x

⇒ 86.7

The value of x is 86.7

  • Length of rectangle = 10 + 2x = 10 + 2 × 86.7 = 183.4 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = x = 86.7 cm

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

⇒ (183.4 × 86.7) cm²

⇒ 15,900.78 cm²

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

  • Length of rectangle = 183.4 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 86.7 cm
  • Area of rectangle = \leadsto \large{\boxed{\bf{\red{15,900.78~ cm^2}}}} {\green{\bigstar}}
