The assertion (A)  is correct, but the reason (R) is incorrect.

Urea is produced only by humans and animals and is excreted in a semi-solid state. Plants also excrete wastes during their life processes. However, their waste products are not in the form of urea.

The waste products of plants are oxygen, carbon dioxide and water vapour.

  • Oxygen is given out as a by-product during photosynthesis. It is not useful for plants.
  • Though carbon dioxide is useful for plants, excess carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.
  • Excess water is also given out by plants.

All these three waste products are released through the stomata (openings present on the surface of the leaf), and are given out in the gaseous state.

Therefore, plants excrete wastes, but it is not urea.
