Rh incompability arises when mother is Rh negative(dd) and foetus is Rh positive.
Foetus can be Rh positive because he inherit D allele from his father(father may be Dd or DD).
So when the foetus is Rh positive, the mother's immune system can react against the foetus.this is known as Rh incompatibility
The chances of damage to the foetus in the first pregnancy are mild but demage to the foetus in subsequent pregnancies can be severe.
