We have to calculate the Workdone by electric field in moving an electron from point A (0, 2cm) to point B(5cm, 9cm) in a region of electric field, E = 10⁴j V/m.

solution : charge on electron, e = 1.6 × 10^-19 C

position vector, r = B - A

= (5, 9) - (0, 2)

= (5, 7)

= 5i + 7j

electric field, E = 10⁴j V/m

so, force , F = eE

we know, Workdone by electric field = F.r

= eE.r

= (1.6 × 10^-19C) (10⁴ j).(5i + 7j)

= 1.6 × 7 × 10¯¹⁵ J

= 11.2 × 10¯¹⁵ J

Therefore the work done by electric field is 11.2 × 10¯¹⁵.
