1. Connect a small bulb with cell or battery with
the help of connecting wires as shown. Cut one of its
connecting wire and connect its ends with different
types of materials available at your home. Observe
the results and identify the behaviour of each
material. On the basis of your observations, make a
list of at least 10 items behaving as conductors or
insulators with justification. You can also perform this
experiment with some other electrical device instead of small bulb.

Answer:

Explanation:

Apparatus / Materials:

• Wires

• Buzzer

• SWITCH

• Battery

• Conductors and insulators

Procedure:

The Diagram shows a circuit that can be used to test whether a material ia a conductor or an insulator. Electricity is provided by the Battery and switch control the circuit. Note that Buzzer is used instead of light as advised. If the test material is a conductor, the buzzer will be buzzing when the switch is on.

Results:

Conductors:

Conductors allow electrical current pass through the and in this experiment if buzzer will buzz that material is conductor. Examples are:

1. Silver

2. Copper

3. Aluminum

4. Iron

5. Mercury

6. Carbon (Graphite)

Insulator:

Insulators do not allow electrical current pass through the and in this experiment if the buzzer do not buzz that material is insulator. Examples are:

7. Wood

8. Glass

9. Rubber

10. Plastic

11. Dry Air

12. paper
