Question:

3. Cooking utensils are provided with ebonite handle. Explain.

AnsweR:

  • Wood and Plastic are bad conductors of heat. The plastic ones are usually processed to be as much heat resistant as possible. Little expensive ones are made with better quality food grade plastic composite material resistant to long term heat based wear and tear.
  • Wood and Plastic Handles, Ladles etc. are used for non-stick cookware more, the coating on these cookware are best suited to wood handles because they can get scratched by metal handles.

Answer 1) Answer:

Convert 298 K to °F.

=by subtracting 273

so it will be 25°C

now the formula

F =C×9/5+32

45+32=77F

2 (i) 4184 joules

(ii) 0.000239 kilocalorie

3. Cooking utensils are provided with ebonite handle. Explain.

=Cooking utensils are provided with handles of bad conductors of heat such as ebonite or wood to hold them as the handles of these materials do not allow heat to pass from utensil to our hand.

4. The thermometer A which is painted black will show a high temperature that is more than that of thermometer B. b.) Hence, we can conclude that the dull black surface is a good absorber of heat than any bright shiny surface. Any dark colour is a good radiator of heat and hence will become hotter than the other one.
