1. Cooling effect : The water keeps on
evaporating from the leaf surface
during transpiration. The heat
required for evaporation of water is
obtained from the plant itself and
thus, the plant cools itself when it is
hot outside
1) How is the heat obtained in the plant ????

Answer: Transpiration helps in cooling as when they pass through tubes in plants they take away heat from surrounding cells and surface and gets evaporated. Thermogenic plants have the ability to raise their temperature above that of the surrounding air. Heat is generated in the mitochondria, as a secondary process of cellular respiration called thermogenesis. All metabolic reactions in the plant produce heat. Examples- Chemical transformations within the plant cell, etc.

Hope this helps ;-)
