Effective Atomic Number (EAN) is given as the contribution of each ligand to the central metal atom.

EAN = Atomic number of central metal atom - charge on central metal atom + 2(number of ligands).

Atomic number of Cobalt = 27

Charge on Cobalt = +3

Number of ligands = 6

Contribution of ligands = 12 electrons

EAN = 27 - 3 + 12 = 36

MGNLoud: not sure, but im like 20% its correct
ramakrishna191: its related to maths not chemistry
MGNLoud: xD
