When an atom donate his electron is known as cation EXAMPLE Hydrogen has only one electron but hydrogen didn't gain any electron because it has both the property when hydrogen gain one electron so the octate of hydrogen is complete but hydrogen donate his electron......When an atom gain his electron is known as anion EXAMPLE The atomic no of nitrogen is 7 so nitrogen didn't lose all the electron so in case nitrogen gain electron to complete it's octate
