Answer

1. Decarboxylation is a chemical reaction that removes a carboxyl group and releases carbon dioxide (CO2). Usually, decarboxylation refers to a reaction of carboxylic acids, removing a carbon atom from a carbon chain.

2. a) Benzene can be prepared from aromatic acids through decarboxylation reaction. In this process, sodium salt of the benzoic acid (sodium benzoate) is heated with soda lime to produce benzene along with sodium carbonate. Phenol is an aromatic organic compound with the molecular formula C₆H₅OH.

b) Benzene can be prepared from aromatic acids through decarboxylation reaction. In this process, sodium salt of the benzoic acid (sodium benzoate) is heated with soda lime to produce benzene along with sodium carbonate. Phenol is an aromatic organic compound with the molecular formula C₆H₅OH.

3. Benzene is a colourless compound, and the physical state of Benzene is liquid. Benzene melts at 5.5 °C, and it boils at 80.1 °C. Benzene is not miscible in water and is soluble in organic solvents. It has an aromatic odour.

4. a) When benzene is treated with chlorine in presence of sunlight, addition takes place to give BHC. It's gamma isomer is known as gammaxane.

b) ben zene can be fully converted to the cyclohexane by doing its hydrogenetion with h2 using Platinum or Paladium catylyst for fat process. The Hydrogention converts all the unsaturated carbons to saturated one.

Hope it'll help you.
