Answer:

Decantation is a process in which the clear liquid is transferred to another container without disturbing the sediments. Decantation is always followed by sedimentation.

In this process first, the mixture of liquid and insoluble substance undergo sedimentation where the heavier particles get settled down to the bottom of the container then the clear liquid which is forming upper layer is transferred to another container.
