A wave is a disturbance in amedium that causes transfer of energy from one point to another without displacement of the medium itself.

Now mechanical waves are those waves that need a medium for there transfer like sound waves they need a medium which Is air

Electromagnetic waves are those which don't need a medium For there transfer like light waves there don't new a medium so that's the difference btn the mechanical waves and electromagnetic waves so a stataionary wave is a wave which Is in phase that is to say that it's particles are not moving then progressive waves are the ones which are continuously or proggressively moving
