Background:

To answer your question, there are two physical quantities we need to be familiar with i.e. mass and weight. Normally, these quantities are taken to be the same, but in physics, the mass of a body is the quantity of matter it contains and the weight of a body is the force with which the earth attracts it. In other words, weight of a body is the force of gravity on it.

The S.I. unit of mass is kilogram (kg) and the S.I. unit of weight is Newton (N).

Weight also has other units like dyne, gram force (gf) and kilogram force (kgf). The metric unit or M.K.S unit of weight is kilogram force (kgf).

Answer:

1. One gram force is the force due to gravity on a mass of 1 g.

2. 1 kgf = 1000 gf

i.e. 1 gf =  \frac{1}{1000} kgf
