1.In the Amazon basin, People grow most of their food in small areas after clearing some trees in the forest. While men hunt and fish along the rivers, women take care of the crops. They practice “slash and burn agriculture”. The people living in many regions of the Amazonia have the forests cleared for soya bean plantations and ranching. Some of the inhabitants also harvest wild rubber latex and Brazil nuts. Lumbering or agriculture is also one of the occupations in the Amazonia.

2.The main features of this river basin are:

•A fertile belt that includes most of north and east India.

•Rich source of alluvial soil.

•Number of ox-bow lakes over the plains.

•Bounded on the north by the mountains and foothills of the Himalayas.

•On east, lies the famed Sundarbans delta.

3.Wildlife = The Ganga Brahmaputra basin is house to a varied wildlife as well. Tigers, Elephants, Deer and monkeys are the most common. Apart from these one-horned Rhinoceros, crocodiles, alligators and Bengal tiger are a common sight in the delta.

4.The main crop is the main crop in the Ganga-Brahmaputra Basin is paddy. Since cultivation of paddy requires enough water, it is grown in the areas where the amount of rainfall is high. Wheat, maize, sorghum, gram and millets are the other crops that are grown. Cash crops like sugarcane and jute are also grown.

1) People of Amazon basin mostly do agricultural activities. While men are engaged in hunting and fishing and women look after the crops . Crops that are grown are tapioca, pineapple, sweet potato. As hunting and fishing are uncertain it is the women who keep their families alive by feeding on the food they grow. they also practice slash and burn agriculture.

2. The plains of the ganga and the brahmaputra the mountains and the foothills of the Himalayas and the Sunderbans delta are the main features of the basin.

3. There is a variety of wildlife in the basin. Elephants, tigers, deer and monkeys are common. The one horned rhinoceroses is found in brahmaputra plain. In the delta area, Bengal tiger, crocodiles and alligator are found.

4. The basin area has varied topography. In the muntain area less number of people are found whereas in plain areas more number of people are found because of fertile soil availability of water etc. The main crop is paddy. wheat ,maize, sorghum ,gram are also grown. Cash crops like sugarcane and jute are also grown. In mountain crops are grown in terrace.
