Maria sharapova herself said that it was the money that kept her going. she used to sleep at 8 while other tennis pupils used to come at 11 and make her tidy up the room but she didn't used to get depressed and kept going because of which on 25th August 2005 she got the no. 1 position in women's tennis.

She got best female tennis player and teen choice award for choice for female athlete.
