Robert Hooke observed thin slices of dead cork under his crude compound microscope in the year 1665. He observed that the cork was composed of box like compartments, forming a honeycomb-like structure .This is the microscopic structure of a cell.
Cell Organelles:
1.Plasma membrane
2.Protoplasm :(i) Cytoplasm
(ii)Nucleus
3.Mitochondria
4.Vacuoles
5.Cell wall
6. Plastids (present only in plant cells)
7. Endoplasmic Reticulum
8. Ribosome
9. Lysosome
10. Centrosome
11. Nucleolus
12. Vesicle
13.Golgi apparatus
