1. Diagonal UK and HS of a Rhombus HUSK are of the length 10cm and 24cm. Find its side.​

Answer:

Let ABCD be the rhombus where UK = 10 cm and HS = 24 cm.

Let UK and HS intersect each other at O.

Now, diagonals of rhombus bisect each other at right angles.

Thus, we have  

So, OK = 1/2 of UK

= (1/2×10) cm

= 5 cm  

So, OS = 1/2 of HS

= (1/2×24) cm

= 12 cm

 

Triangle OKS is a right angled triangle (Property of rhombus)

By Pythagorean Theorem

OS² + OK² = KS²

(12 cm)² + (5 cm)² = KS²

144 cm² + 25 cm² = KS²  

169 cm² = KS²

KS^2 = 169 cm²

KS = 13 cm

Thus, length of each side of rhombus is 13 cm.
