1. Divide 1550 into two parts such that if one part is lent out at 15% p.a. and the

Let one part be a and the other be 1550-a.

the annual income means the total simple interest of both parts.

SI = PTR/ 100

equation 1,

SI = a*1*15/100

SI = 15a/100

equation 2,

SI = (1550-a)*1*24/100

SI = (1550-a)*24/100

SI = (37200-24a)/100

adding equation 1 and 2,

annual income = 15a/100 + (37200-24a)/100

300= (15a+37200-24a)/100

300*100= 37200-9a

30000= 37200-9a

9a = 37200-30000

9a = 7200

a = 7200/9

a = 800

therefore one part is 800 and the other is 750 (1550-800).
