Draw a circle of radius 3 cm. Take two points P and Q
on one of its extended diameters each at a distance of
7 cm from its centre. Draw tangents to the circle from
two points P and Q.
Answers
METHOD TO DRAW TANGENTS-
•given radius=3cm,take 3cm in compass and draw a circle and name center of the circle-o.
•given exterior point=7cm,draw 7cm long line from center-o to point-A.
•now bisect Ao (to bisect Ao take more than half distance of Ao in compass and draw arcs from both points-A and o, on both side above and below line Ao,then draw a line joining the points where arcs have intersected each other).
•now from the point where that line has intersected Ao draw a circle going through points A and o.
•now you can observe that this circle has intersected previous circle on two points, name them P and Q.
•now join points AP and AQ.
•now you can observe that AP is equal to AQ and both lines are tangents of cirle.
you can use same method to draw other tangents.
