1. Draw a line, say AB, take a point C outside it. Through C, draw a line parallel to AB using ruler and compasses only.

- a line AB with point C outside
- mark a point D on the line AB
- with D centre of any radius draw an Arc intersecting AB at E, CD and F
- with C as centre
- same radius as before,
- draw an act intersecting CD ad G
- open compass to length EF
- now G as centre
- and compass open the same radius as before
- draw an arc intersecting as previous arc at H
- draw a line m passing through C and H
- thus M is the line parallel to AB and passing through C
- M parallel AB
