Given : A circle of Radius 3 cm and point at a distance of 6 cm

To Find :  Draw two  tangents

Solution:

Step 1 :  Take a point P

Step 2 : Draw a circle using compass width = 3 cm and taking P as center

Step 3 : Using compass width = 6 cm , taking P as center mark a point R

Step 4 : Join PR

Step 5 : Using suitable compass width Taking P as center draw arcs on both sides of PR

Step 6 : Keeping compass width same and taking R as center  draw arcs on both sides of PR such that it intersects arc drawn in previous steps at X & Y

Step 7 : Join XY intersecting PR at M

Step 8 : Taking M as center and taking Compass width = MP or MR and taking M as center draw arcs intersecting circle at  Q and Q'

Step  9 : Join  RQ  & RQ'

RQ & RQ' are required Tangent
