✥ The Epiglottis prevent the entrance of food into trachea when we swallow the food by following procedures :-

⇒ After we swallow the food , a flap known as epiglottis procedes to block the entry of food into the lungs or larynx.

⇒ The muscles contained in larynx gives a pull in upward direction to help with this movement.

⇒ They also get closed tightly when we swallow the food.

Therefore , by this way epiglottis prevents the entrance of food into the trachea when we swallow the food.
