Solution:

365 days in a normal year

365 = 52 x 7 + 1

52 sundays in 52 weeks

Given :- Find the probability of 53 sundays in a normal year.

Solution :-

we know that,

  • Normal year has total 365 days.
  • Leap year has total 366 days. {In february we have 29 days.}

so,

→ 365 days = 7 * 52 + 1 day = 52 weeks + 1 day .

Conclusion :-

  • In 52 weeks we have 52 sunday .
  • 1 day = Any day of the week . { Depends on the first day of the year .}

we can conclude that, the probability of 53 sundays in a normal year depends on the left 1 day .

therefore,

→ Required probability = ( 1 / 7 ) (Ans.)

Hence, the probability of 53 sundays in a normal year is (1/7) .
