let age of daughter =y

so age of father=4x

age of mother will be

as given 1/3of mother age = daughter age

so 1/3×Y=y(let Y be mother age)

thus Y=3y

so mother age could be written as 3y

so y=x+3

and we know that

4x = 3y+6 ( age of mother is 6 less than age of father)

by putting value of y=x+3

thus

we get

4x=3×(x+3) +6

4x-3x=15
