Answer: Elections are done to either directly elect your leader or to elect the representative who then make leaders to rule the country .

Explanation:. In a democracy there should be free , fair and regular elections .

India is a representative democracy in which people of the country choose MPs and MLAs .

In India elections took place at three level because the government in our country is a three level government which is

central government

sate government and

panchayats and municipal corporations i e local government .

elections are done at a regular interval of five years in some cases 6 years also .

firstly we have to know that there are two houses of parliament both at Central and State level.

the election to look sabha and legislative assembly of respected state are done after 5 years in which we elect member of parliaments and member of state legislative assembly.

then they will elect prime minister and president .

In rajya sabha and legislatve council elections of two third members were done after every six years which are done indirectly by the elected members of both houses .

lastly elections to panchayats at village level are done directly by the people .

Elections to municipalities are done in both ways directly and indirectly depending on the positions and they are also done at a regular gap of 5 years.
