Answer and Explanation:

  • H W Longfellow is the poet of Sunrise on the Hills.
  • It has a lyrical highlight on the therapeutic effect of nature on human mind.
  • This poem describes the beautiful atmosphere during a sunrise on the hill; including the exquisite sights, sounds and movements.
  • The poem comprises of three stanzas where the last one is small.

The first stanza focuses on description of sights seen by the poet from up the hill. While a soft morning wind flows through the sun-kissed valley, looking from above the poet sees clouds splattered around and Sun coming up through them. When the thick veil of the cloud is lifted, a rich breathing valley is visible with its cascading streams and a blue lake having silver beaches.

  • In the final stanza the poet gives a lesson through the end.
  • He says that when we are troubled by sorrows of life and want to forget our worries, we should surround ourselves with nature and go to the woods or hills.
  • Nature is capable of healing us.
