In Mathematics and Statistics, arithmetic mean is also simply known as the average and is calculated by dividing all the numbers of observations in a data set by the number of observations in that particular data set.It is one of the measures of the central value of any data set
Explanation:
Essential properties of arithmetic mean:-
- In Statistics, the sum of the deviations of each number or observation in a data set from the mean value of average is always zero.
- The sum of the squared deviations of each number/observation from the mean or average is less than the sum of squared deviation of each number/observation from any other measure of central value in a data set.
- If each number or observation in a data set is replaced by the mean, then the sum of the means will be equal to the sum of the actual numbers/observations.
