1. himalaya is a natural barrier of india which obstructs the path of the monsoon and bring a lot of rainfall in indo gange tic plains. it's acting as a natural irrigation system. it also provides us with many useful and medicinal herbs. it is also home to many gems and also it is a part of tourism industry.

2. it can be classified into 3 types

i. greater himalay or hemadri

ii. middle himalaya or himachal

iii.and lesser himalaya or terrain.

tis was formed 70 million yers ago due to collision of indian and Eurasian plates.

3. it has tundra vegetation of moss and lichens. it has mountainous soil where coniferous trees also grow.

4.himalaya has a number of rivers originating from it like the ganga yamuna indus satluj Brahmaputra etc. they drain the lands of almost 7 countries.of the southern central and south eastern asia

5. himalaya has a number of hill stations like mussoorie nainital kuli manali etc.

6. himalaya is home to almost 5000 indigenous and endemic species of flora fauna and medicinal herbs like sarpagandha.

7. himalaya has many high peaks which attract many trekkers and mountaineers. the everest highest peak is in the himalaya. in india the darjiling institute of mountaineering himalayan institute indian institute etc are prominent.
