Answer:

1.Why World War 1 which started in Europe,is called a"World War"?

2.Explain the causes of World War 1

Explanation:

1.World War 1 did start in Europe, but it was an all out global war.If a European country joined, its colonies too were forced to join. For example:Britain's entry forced India,Egypt, etc. commonwealths too into the War. This process encompassed almost the entire globe into the War.

Also, battles were fought across the globe. For eg: German admiral Von Spee's   powerful East Asia Squadron fought the British Navy near the Falkland Islands(near Argentina),The Japanese fought the Germans in the Tsingtao peninsula,German East Africa( present day Kenya) held on against many Allied assaults.

2. Well, there are many causes. The primary cause being the assasination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria and his wife, when they visited Sarajevo(in Bosnia). After his assasination,Austria sent an ultimatum to Serbia demanding a few things.Serbia refused, and Austria declared war.Germany decided to support Austria, whilst Russia decided to support Serbia,a fellow Slav nation. This how major European powers were dragged into the war.

There were many more reasons, military rivalries, for instance. The Entente and the Central Powers.Everyone wanted to take each other's land. For example,France wanted Alsace-Lorraine from German Reich(which Prussia had taken during the Franco-Prussian war,1871,to unify the German states into one single Reich),Italy wanted Trento from Austria-Hungary,etc.

By the way I suggest that you watch Epic History TV's World War 1 Video. It will help you in understanding about further developments of the war!
