1. The colour of sunlight is actually white. But, on dispersing it by passing through a prism, we can observe that the white sunlight is actually made up of the rainbow colours - VIBGYOR. The expanded form of VIBGYOR is - Violet, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. Thus we can conclude that the white colour of sunlight is actually a mixture of 7 different colours.

2.  Discussed below are the main parts of the eyes:

→ Cornea - The outermost transparent part of the eye is known as cornea.

→ Iris - Iris is the dark muscular structure present just below the cornea. The iris determines the colour of the eyes.

→ Pupil - The small opening present in the iris that allows light to move inside our eyes is known as pupil.

→ Lens - The lens which is located behind the pupil helps to focus the light to the retina.

→ Ciliary muscles - The main function of ciliary muscles is to change the shape of the lens depending upon the light source. Through reshaping, the lens can focus more easily.

→ Retina - The retina is located deeper inside the eye where the image is formed upside down. It contains two types of nerve cells:

✳ Cons - Cons are the nerve cells that are sensitive to bright light during daytime.

✳ Rods - Rods are the nerve cells that are sensitive to dim light during night time.

→ Optic Nerves - The optic nerves transmit the sensations felt by the nerve cells for decoding, helping us to see.

3. Here are some methods to maintain proper care of our eyes:

→ Never rub your eyes when dust or some other particles get into them. Wash your eyes with cold water.

→ Never read in dim or too bright light.

→ Never look at the sun with naked eyes.

→ Never bring your reading material too close or too far away. Maintain a distance of atleast 25 cm.

→ Visit an ophthalmologist on a regular basis for check ups.

→ Never read in moving vehicles.
