1.a)

FOLDING- It is the process when earth's two tectonic plates converge. The collision causes a part of the Earth's surface to rise up, creating a mountain by compression .

FAULTING- The tension and compression associated with the plate tectonics that causes rocks to break apart is called faulting.

VOLCANIC ACTIVITY- The opening in the earth's crust through which molten magma, gases, dust particles and other harmful materials arise is called a volcano.

b)

Divergent boundaries - Where new crust is generated as the plates pull away from each other.

Convergent boundaries - Where crust is destroyed as one plate dives under another.

Transform boundaries - Where crust is neither produced nor destroyed as the plates slide horizontally past each other.

2. The seven major plates are the African plate, Antarctic plate, Eurasian plate, Indo-Australian plate, North American plate, Pacific plate and South American plate.
