Brazil currently has a better standard of living than India, with higher GDP per capita, less pollution, less water/power shortages. But they have a much bigger problem with crime, drugs and murder. Brazilian cities have among the worst crime and murder in the world.

Measured by aggregate gross domestic product (GDP), the Indian economy is larger than Brazil's i.e GDP (nominal) of Brazil is $2.139 trillion whereas India is $2.848 trillion. Measured on a per capita basis, however, Brazil is far richer. The estimated GDP per capita in Brazil is $16,199 whereas in India it is $7,783.
