1. Explain why we are unable to hear the explosions happening in the sun.
2. How will you differentiate amplitude and frequency of different sounds ? Give two suitable examples from your daily life.
Answers
Answer:
1. Sound is a form of mechanical energy,it requires medium for the propagation. But there is no medium in between sun and earth. So we can not hear the sounds of explosions that take place on the surface of sun..
2.A sound is a form of energy, just like electricity, heat, or light. When you strike a bell, it makes a loud ringing noise. Now instead of just listening to the bell, put your finger on the bell after you have struck it. Can you feel it shaking? This movement or shaking, i.e. the to and fro motion of the body is termed as Vibration
1. Sun is 15 crore km away from the earth and also there is a vaccum in bewteen the sun and earth other than atmosphere. As we know that the sound does not travel in the vaccum , Hence we are unable to hear the explosions happening in the sun.
2. The number of vibrations per second is called frequency , whereas the amplitude is the maximum displacement of vibrating body from it's mean position. The amplitude of sound depends on frequency.
Examples :
a. A bird makes high pitch sound and a lion makes a low pitch roar.
b. Voice from a girl (or) a woman has higher frequency and voice from a man has lower frequency.
