Light propagates faster through a Medium A than through another Medium B.

Answer a. Medium 2 has higher optical density. More the optical density, lesser the speed of light through that medium. Hence Medium 1 is less optically dense than Medium 2.

Answer b .If the incident ray follows the normal drawn perpendicularly on the junction plane of 2 mediums, it will not refract. Angle of refraction (angle between the refracted ray and the normal), 'r' also becomes 0 thus no change in direction occurs.
