Question:

  • Fifteen years from now Rafiq's age will be four times his present age. What is Rafiq's present age?

Answer:

  • Present age of Rafiq is 5 years.

Given:

  • Fifteen years from now Rafiq's age will be four times his present age.

To Find:

  • Present age of Rafiq?

Solution:

  • Let present age of Rafiq be m years.
  • So, Rafiq age fifteen years from now is (m + 15) years.

According to the question,

  • Rafiq's Age (15 years from now) = 4(Present age of Rafiq)

Therefore,

\sf m + 15 = 4m

\sf 4m - m = 15

\sf 3m = 15

\sf m = {\cancel{\dfrac{15}{5}}}

\bf\red{m = 5}

\large{\boxed{\sf{\therefore\:Present\:age\:of\:Rafiq = \bf{5\:years}}}}

Let's Verify:

We know that,

\sf m + 15 = 4m

Put m = 5 in above equation we get,

\sf 5 + 15 = 4\:\times\:5

\sf 20 = 20

\bf\purple{LHS = RHS}

\large{\boxed{\sf{Hence,\:Verified\:\checkmark}}}

Solution :

Fifteen years from now , Rafiq 's age will be four times his present age.

We have to find the present age of Rafiq .

Let us assume that his present age is x years .

After fifteen years from now

His age >> x + 15 years

Now this will be four times his present age(which is x years)

This leads us to forming a basic linear equation

x + 15 = 4x

Transferring x to the other side

>> 3x = 15

>> x = 5

So , we can conclude that the present age of Rafiq is 5 years. This is the required answer .
