1. Fill in the blanks.
(a) Like charges repel but unlike charges attract each other.
(b) Repulsion is the sure test of electrification.
(c) Charge acquired by an ebonite rod when rubbed with wool is negative charge.
2. Answer these questions.
(a) What is charging by conduction?
Answer (a) :- Charging by conduction means that a charged body transfers the same charge to the body with which it comes in contact. This mode of charging required a physical touch between the charged and the uncharged body. This mode mode of charging induces the same charge (the charge which is possessed by the charged body).
(b) What is the nature of charge developed on a glass rod when it is rubbed with silk fibre?
Answer (b) :- When a glass rod is rubbed on a Silk fibre, some of the outer electrons of the glass rod get transferred to the Silk fibre. As a result, the glass rod develops a positive charge (due to loss of electrons) and the Silk fibre develops a negative charge (due to excess of electrons).
