Earthquakes are caused when rocks underground break. Earthquakes are caused due to sudden tectonic movements in the earth's crust. When the tectonic plates slide over one another, there is a cause of orogeny which results in earthquakes and volcanoes.

Since the sudden movements of tectonic plates causes earthquake. We can say that it is a natural disaster.

During an earthquake, using elevator instead of staircase may become a deathtrap for you. An elevator runs using electricity power. Most tsunamis are caused by earthquakes generated on a subduction zone, an area where one tectonic plate is forced under another plate. In subduction zones one plate is forced down and an adjacent plate is forced up causing an earthquake.

These heavy earthquakes makes high and strong waves called Tsunami.
