Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

Radius of the circle is 14 cm

To find:-

Find the area of the shaded region in the given figure?

Solution:-

Given that :

The radius of the circle (r) = 14 cm

We know that

Area of a circle whose radius is r units is

πr² sq.units

Area of the given circle

= (22/7)×(14×14) cm²

=>22×14×2 cm²

=> 616 cm²

Area of the circle = 616 cm²

Diameter of the small semi circles

= 14 cm

Radius of the small semi circles (r) = d/2

=> r = 14/2 = 7 cm

Area of the small semi circle

= πr²/2 sq.units

=> (22/7)×(7×7)/2 cm²

=>( 22×7 )/2cm²

=> 11×7

=> 77 cm²

Area of one small semi circle = 77 cm²

Area of two small semi circles

= 2×77 cm²

= 154 cm²

Area of the shaded region =

Area of the big circle - Area of two small semi circles

=616 -154

= 462 cm²

Answer:-

Area of the shaded region for the given problem is 462 cm²

Used formulae:-

  • Area of a circle = πr² sq.units
  • Area of a semi - circle = πr²/2 sq.units
  • Radius of a circle = Diameter/2
  • π = 22/7
  • r = radius of a circle
