b) the average of 4.2 , 3.8 and 7.6

4) find the number such that one-forth of the number is 3 more than 7.

= a × (b + c) = (a × b) + (a × c)

Let, a = -48, b = 26, c = -36

26 × (−48) + (−48) × (−36)

= (−48) × 26 + (−48) × (−36) (b × a = a × b)

= (−48) [26 − 36] (a × b + a × c) = a (b + c)

= (−48) × (−10) [∵ (- × – = +)

= 480

Answer

26 × (– 48) + (– 48) × (–36)=480
