1. Find the total surface area and lateral surface area of a cuboid with the following dimensions:
(a) length = 14 cm, breadth = 10 cm and height = 12 cm

To Find:-

  • Total surface area of cuboid
  • Lateral surface area of cuboid

Given:-

  • Length = 14 cm
  • Breadth = 10 cm
  • Height = 12 cm

Solution:-

We know that Total surface area of a cuboid

= 2( lb + bh + lh )

and

Lateral surface area of cuboid is

= [ 2( l + b ) × h ]

So,

  • Total surface area

= 2 ( 14×10 + 10×12 + 14×12 )

= 2 ( 140 + 120 + 168 )

= 2 × 428

= 856cm².

  • Lateral surface area

= [2 ( 14 + 10 ) × 12 ]

= 2 × 14 × 12

= 336cm².

Required Answer

  • Total surface area of cuboid = 856cm².
  • Lateral surface area of cuboid = 336cm².
